Devlog 08: Timers and Textures!
Welcome again to another week and another devlog! We're nearing the end of sprint 2 and are excited to get to the end of this wonderful experience. We've learned a ton about both the process of actually working on a project like this, and how to work in a team using tools like Perforce, unreal C++, and various other ones.
We'll go more in depth on this later, as now its time for another weekly update!
Programming:
For programming we're feeling very good about the game! The core mechanics are in and are working as we want them too, and the game is really coming along nicely. We hope to polish some things such as the UI button selecting showing a hovered state when using controller, but this is put on the backlog for polish.
This week we've had to choose what we would and wouldn't implement as theres only 2 weeks left.
The decision was made to cut player kicking out of the game. We feel that the time we would put in it would not be worth what it would bring. It's mostly disruptive and despite it giving more agency to your own character and the flow of the game, it comes at an equal downside of disrupting the other player. This is already already possible with the team abilities.
Now what we did put in is a game timer!
The timer starts every round on 3 minutes so matches are on the shorter but fun side!
The timer shows on top in a neutral colour and works nicely :)
But what happens when the timer runs out?
Well the game would either decide a winner or go into... SUDDEN DEATH
This signifies that the first team to score will win the game, as we don't do ties in the intergalactic wargame of footie frenzy!

This week we focused more one the animation of the characters and filling in the tribune and arena .
But both characters are both fully textured now!
And there's textured arena ground :3
